Hey there and welcome to Remedied!
My name is Mel Johnstone, and I am the Remedial Massage Therapist and business owner of Remedied. After 20+ years working within the Allied Health and Medical industry in both administration and management, I decided it was time for me to embrace further studies and become a remedial massage therapist. In September 2022, I opened my personalised home based studio in Menai, a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for all.
Why massage therapy? I personally find massage therapy to be a thoroughly relaxing and restorative treatment for my mind and body. I love that it is a safe practice with so many benefits, and truly believe it should be a regular part of everyone’s life, not simply a pamper treatment for a special occasion. Becoming a massage therapist allows me to help others, to provide the space, peace and physical relaxation a massage brings. My studio, treatments and interactions with others are driven by my kindness and compassion; and my passion for supporting others to live a life that leads to health, wellbeing and joy.
I have absolutely loved meeting everyone that comes for a massage, and hope to meet you soon too!

Why Remedied?
When considering what to name my little massage studio, I wanted to communicate the value behind massage therapy for everyone, which goes far beyond a spa treatment that is often given as a birthday present or for a special occasion.
The definition of remedied is “to restore to the natural or proper condition; put right” (in past tense) and massage therapy as a whole was founded on the philosophy and understanding that the body has an innate ability to heal itself. While remedial massage therapy specifically involves the assessment and treatment of soft tissue dysfunctions that cause pain and restrict human movement, relaxation massage can also assist in restoring the body to its natural condition through rest, relaxation and nurturing.
I myself have experienced the remedial and restorative effect of massage therapy, I have seen clients experience it, and I hope to share it with you too.
